On the 31 August 2010, Valleyarm distributed our Valleyarm Vibes email to all Valleyarm (and previous Musicadium) customers and stakeholders. The email included important changes relating to previous Musicadium Titles and Customers. The extract from the email related to that important news was:
For artists and labels who had titles originally released via Musicadium, we have some important and exciting news concerning a variation to your digital distribution agreement.
As of today’s date (31 August 2010), all Musicadium titles will now be distributed under the Valleyarm Distribution Agreement.
What this means to you
The key change to your Musicadium contractual arrangement is that all your existing content will now be included in all stores globally that Valleyarm deliver to, that’s over 200 stores! Your releases will now be available for sale in over 70 territories and to a much larger and broader audience. You’ll have access to more distribution channels and more opportunities!Instead of paying AUD $39 for each outlet you add (under the Musicadium arrangement), you now have access to unlimited global retailers under a better, broader deal. Valleyarm’s distribution agreement normally includes a single, one-off, upfront fee of AUD$169 (ex GST) for a music audio release distributed to every store we are contracted with (over 200 stores worldwide currently and growing). However, to recognise the great support from Musicadium customers, we have waived that fee for all existing Musicadium titles. Nothing to pay upfront at all. The term of the agreement is set to three years, so your release will be available in plenty more stores as they come online.
The only fee change for existing Musicadium titles is an increase in the annual service renewal fee to AUD$100 per release. To enable us to best service and report on your content across the hundreds of stores, continual ingestion of your content into new outlets and channels we bring on board and for your ongoing use of our digital distribution and royalty management system (at digital.valleyarm.com), existing Musicadium titles will fall under the Valleyarm renewal fee arrangement.
In simple terms, you will receive all that service and access plus distribution to hundreds of stores as part of your annual renewal fee of AUD $100 per annum. This can be deducted from your existing or ongoing royalties – whatever is easiest for you! The renewal fee will simply be offset against your royalties when the renewal is due, and of course, you will still earn 100% of your royalties as per the previous agreement.
Additionally, the Valleyarm distribution agreement, provides an option, if selected, for Valleyarm to collect your Publishing royalties from around the world with Valleyarm acting as your Sub Publisher for a 30% service fee. Synchronisation opportunities are also available to you now. Valleyarm place content globally with ad agencies and film companies via our sync partner RecordPlay.

More good news on that front for you! Those 100s for 100 customers will have their first year annual renewal fee waived in consideration for the payment they have already made to Musicadium. No renewal fee will be due for around 2 years!What happens now?
You do not need to do anything! For Musicadium’s customers, this change is effective immediately and replaces your existing online agreement. Your continuing use of the Valleyarm site and software will be acceptance of this change beyond 14 days as per the current Musicadium agreement. If you wish to close your account with Valleyarm please contact us.
Unless we have been notified about prior contractual arrangements, we will start the process of delivering your content to all our Stores Globally and not charge the upfront fee of AUD$169 for any previous existing Musicadium releases. It’s a big job, so please bear with us
