Valleyarm-distributed acts in St Kilda Film FestivalMay 20, 2011
The 2011 St Kilda Film Festival features three Valleyarm-distributed artists as part of the soundKILDA music video competition. Birds of Tokyo, Clare Bowditch and The Bedroom Philosopher are all up for the award, together with fifteen other Australian music videos. The winner will be announced in May 26 at at the Astor Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne where one will be named the winner of 2011.
The funny, hipster-mocking video of Northcote (So Hungover) by The Bedroom Philosopher was directed by Craig Melville. In the nominated video, The Bedroom Philosopher himself plays a clueless, sardonic hipster talks to his friend on his mobile phone about his band’s new recording contract. (Watch the video here.)
Birds of Tokyo’s clip for their recent single Circles is up for nomination, and features a lonely bird walking around Las Vegas and was directed by Ben Saunders. Circles is the Perth-band’s forth single from their ARIA award winning self-titled album that is distributed via Valleyarm. (Watch the video here.)
The video for Clare Bowditch’s Modern Day Addiction, in which Clare is trapped in a cage and carried around by a paper-mache woman, has also been nominated. The video was directed by Kes Broekman-Dattner, who has directed two videos nominated in the competition. (Watch the video here.)
